In 2006, I proposed a heuristic method to produce fairer standings: the Missing Point Score System (MPSS). It was appreciated for its logic, which was easy to understand and accept, but it lacked a solid theoretical basis.
I have now refined the approach, and its foundations are much more rigorous. The underlying logic remains the same, although the calculations are significantly more sophisticated and cannot be carried out without the help of a specialized algorithm. Here it is.
